Future Rich B****: Coronavirus Financial Wellness Resources

March 30, 2020

I want to start off by saying, wow… this is such an insane and scary time. I don’t think any of us expected 2020 to take a drastic nose-dive only 3 months into the year. But here we are, and here we will survive, grow and thrive. I know we are all anxious as fuck, and that’s ok. BUT at the end of this, I full-heartedly believe that we will all be stronger, more appreciative and more compassionate than ever before. I, just like a billion other people around the globe, am FREAKING THE FUCK OUT about my finances and the job market. But because I’m a Capricorn, it’s impossible for me to not obsessively research and come up with a plan to overcome my problems. So I’ve collected a few resources below to help all of us make more money from the safety of our homes, stay up to date on unemployment insurance for all my fellow furloughed or laid-off friends, and feel a little more in control during this chaotic season.

  • Mental Health/ Motivation
    • TBH, sometimes I get so upset about the current situation that it’s hard to get out of bed, let alone apply for jobs, so here is a relatable post about finding the motivation to take the next step forward
    • Virtual therapy really does work wonders. Better Help and Talk Space are amazing sources! I’ve used Better Help for over ½ a year and loved it. They are offering 2 weeks of free therapy right now because of Covid 19.

  • Laid off or furloughed? Here is an article to help calm your nerves. We are going to get through this.
  • Make money honey: We all need to either replace our income or increase it to add more into savings/pay off debt. Here are a few remote companies hiring.

  • The Frugal Chef: Saving money by reducing my food budget is my favorite way to save money. Honestly, making a cheese quesadilla with a side of shredded lettuce, greek yogurt (a healthy sour cream dupe) and salsa is delicious and super freaking cheap to make. Add in some black beans for extra energy and fiber and you’re golden. I also like this guide for stretching your grocery budget to the max

Signing off with these two hilarious memes because laughter is a strong form of medicine

Weekly Menu: Making the most out of cooking at home

March 23, 2020

I've never really thought of cooking as a fun activity to pass the time, but now that we are adjusting to this new lifestyle, we all have a lot more time on our hands. So I figured, now is a great time to take an activity that seems more like a chore to me, and turn it into a luxurious experience. Cooking is a lot more fun and relaxing when you play great music, light a candle and sip on a glass of wine or a fun cocktail. Here are a few recipes I'm craving this week. Cheers to a week of hearty and satisfying meals enjoyed in our cozy homes.

Thanks so much for taking a moment to read this post and support my page. Tag me on IG if you end up making one of these dishes! I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy! Until next time.

The Happiness Edit: Retail Therapy Edition

March 21, 2020

Honestly, there's no point in even commenting on how insane the world is right now. We are all experiencing this unpredictable era together. But just because our anxiety might be at an all-time high, doesn't mean we have to let our emotions take control. And I believe that if there were ever a time for responsible retail therapy to have a purpose, that time is now. But remember, the key word is responsible. There are a few things I've recently purchased or have my eye on that I know will add a little bit of happiness to my days as we wait for this cover 19 pandemic to end. Creating a happy and tranquil space in our homes is probably one of the best things we can do for ourselves right now. Cheers to another week of creating our own happiness!

March Mood Board 2020: Muses for the Month

I've come to realize that I am addicted to the feeling of inspiration. I'm sure this is not a trait that is unique just to me. I know this is why I love living in NYC/JC as much as I do. Everywhere I turn, I am surrounded by creativity, art, fashion, energy, ambition and beauty. This city is a breeding ground for inspiration... and I want to spend this month focusing more on the beauty in this city instead of the  headaches and pitfalls that come with working in Corporate America and living in an overcrowded, expensive city. I'm determined to live a fulfilling life, and I know you are too. But we can't do that if we focus on the mundane and challenging parts of life 24/7. Yes, it's important to accept that there are unpleasant parts of life, but it's equally as important to actively seek out even the smallest forms of inspiration and beauty in each day we are blessed with. Those muses will help us live a balanced and fabulous life.

What's been inspiring you this season? I'm mainly excited for spring and to financially prioritize my wants, desires and goals so I can move closer to my ideal lifestyle and career. Of course, I am grateful for everything in my life and become more and more content with my current state of life each day. There is so much that I have to be grateful for.. but we can be content with life and still pursue growth. Growth makes life more interesting anyway.

A Few of my Muses:

  • Listening to Summer Walker's songs while going on a walk
  • Red lipstick
  • Reading in a coffee shop
  • Signing up for Pole flow workshops!!
  • Silky and satin floral dresses!
  • Choreographing to R&B songs
  • feather details
  • cooking and dining with friends
  • wandering through beautiful gardens
  • sipping tea out of a pretty mug
  • Using an excel sheet to manage my monthly budget - helps me feel in control.

What's sparking creativity and passion in your life this March?

Resort Wear 2020: Looks Inspired by Love Island

March 1, 2020

I've been loving reality tv lately!! I don't know where this obsession came from. Well; actually, I do. It's called peer pressure. So many of my friends and family members have gotten me hooked on 90 Day Fiance, Love  Is Blind and Love Island UK. And i'm currently streaming season 4 of the UK Love Island series. I can't get enough. The messiness of the show is addictive and the fashion is top notch. I'm so excited for summer when I can actually wear these wear-weather outfits. I know for sure that I'll be packing most of the outfits below for yacht week. AHH, so excited. And if I'm lucky, I'll be able to afford a small weekend getaway to a warmer location in May or June. But if not, I'm still excited to start planning my resort/vacation wardrobe for the year as well. I hope the outfits below help you get excited for warmer weather too.

Oh, and let me know if you are watching the UK version of Love Island too! I'm planning to catch up on season 6 as soon as I finish season 4, and I know the fashion will not disappoint.

Outfit 1: White Lace See-through Robe + White Bathing Suit

This outfit is inspired by Meg and Rosie's photoshoot after a messy break-up. Gotta love the drama... but also I thought this outfit was chic and sexy for sure! 10 out 10 gotta recreate this look this summer.

Outfit 2: Black One Shoulder Top + Cheetah Mini
Hayley was an interesting character, but the girl knew how to dress. If this isn't an A+ brunch to night out on the town outfit, then I don't know what is. I need to get my hands on a one shoulder top asap and stop sleeping on this revived trend.

Outfit 3: Red Midi Dress with Slit

This outfit is actually inspired by the twins from season 6. I don't remember their names but that's neither here nor there. I would google their names, but I can't risk the potential spoilers. I envision wearing this outfit to an elegant al fresco dinner underneath the stars. How dreamy.

Outfit 4: White Lace Top + White Tailored Shorts

I am not going to lie, I spent over an hour looking for a dupe to a long-sleeve white lace peek-a-boo top that Mag wore in one of the episodes. I am so upset that I couldn't find anything similar, but the white lace top featured above creates a similar affect.

Outfit 5: Sexy One Piece Swimsuit

All the girls on the show consistently wore adorable swimsuits. I especially loved all the one pieces that were featured on the show. I took lots of notes for my next vacation!
